Almost all adsorbers today are equipped with relatively inexpensive, direct-driven fans. Direct-drive sounds good, of course, and their power consumption is even lower too. If only it were so simple…
For an adsorber to work optimally, a certain contact time is required; the residence time during which the air stream comes into contact with the adsorbent. A prerequisite for an optimal contact time is the correct pressure. It must be above 10,000 Pa. That’s where it goes wrong with the cheap fans: they simply “collapse”. As a result, the contact time is longer, therefore the adsorption phase is longer too, and the capacity of an adsorber is much lower. Beyond that, many direct-driven fans have bearing problems in the short term. We have a nice service job on the replacement of these fans.
Our German belt-driven fans are more powerful, last longer, and with the new air distribution system that Blue Atmosphere applies, our adsorbers have a 50% higher capacity per kg of adsorbent. It’s the other way around: you save around 20% energy with the right fans. Pure metal, no plastic.
